The Palace Portal Knit Series is a collection 

that embodies the symbolic meaning of a door as a connection

to other places and holds the value of traditional Korean doors 

(changho) as a medium that connects my life, family, and time.

 The intertwining of warp and weft threads in knit fabric

is reminiscent of the joinery techniques of traditional doors, 

inspiring me to reconstruct the structural features 

and harmony of changho using the method of knit weaving.

This work blends naturally into various spaces, 

proposing new connections as a portable door. 

It encapsulates the aesthetics of changho and my personal 

narrative, bringing them into everyday life. 

Palace Portal: Knit Series seeks to blur 

the boundaries between art and daily life, 

embedding the sentiment and beauty of traditional 

doors into contemporary spaces.

Building on deeply artistic works such as art books, 

I continue to expand my practice into new forms 

that bring these stories closer to daily life, 

allowing for more tangible experiences.

Palace Portal Knit Series는 문이 가진 다른 장소로 이어지는 

연결고리라는 상징적 의미와, 창호가 저에게 가지는 삶과 가족, 

그리고 시간을 연결하는 매개체로서의 가치를 담아 

제작된 작품 시리즈입니다. 

니트의 씨실과 날실로 엮이는 방식이 전통 창호의 짜맞춤 방식과 닮아 있어,

창호의 구조적 특징과 선의 조화를 니트 직조 방식으로 재구성했습니다.

이 작품은 다양한 공간에 자연스럽게 스며들며 

새로운 연결을 제안하는 portable door로서, 

창호의 조형미와 개인적인 이야기가 어우러진 형태로 

일상 속에 담아내었습니다.

작품과 일상의 경계를 허물며, 

창호의 정서와 미학을 현대인의 공간에 

스며들게 하기 위한 시도입니다.

저는 아트북과 같은 깊이 있는 예술적 작업을 기반으로,

 이를 일상 속에서 더 가까이 체험할 수 있는 

새로운 형태로 확장하는 작업을 이어가고 있습니다.
